Sura Hejr, verse 36-38

part 1

Translation:

Iblīs said, “My Lord, then grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected.” Allah said, “You are of those who are granted respite, until the Day of the Appointed Time.” (Translated by Rava’d translation institute)

Explanation of the verse:

Mohsen Qera’ati in Noor interpretation has mentioned: when Satan realized it is cursed until the Dooms day, requested God to be respited until that day; but it did not tell what for it want it. Since God’s tradition is to respite, so it became respited; but not until the Dooms day which it required, until the day which would be appointed by God and according to some interpreters, until the day which there is human being and duty. Huseyni sha’h-abd-il-azimi in Athna’ ashari interpretation, volume 7, has told 5 meanings for the appointed time:

First, which he knew it the first horn blowing by the holy clarion, which the end of the duty era. The second meaning is judgmental day. The third is dependent on the pre-existent (divine) knowledge which has not been transpired to anyone. Fourth is by narrating from Al-borha’n interpretation, volume 4, who by narrating from Vahab-ibn-e-jami who has narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) supposes it as the time of presence of Imam Zama’n in Kufa mosque. According to the narration, it is said that: Vahab-ibn-e-jami said: ((I asked from Imam Sadeq (AS) about the holy verse, what is the appointed time? He stated: ((do you suppose it is the day of resurrection of people? The almighty God has gave him time until the day in which our Qaem (AJ) will resurrect in Kufa mosque, Satan comes and sits in his presence, says: woe to this day! He will take the hair from the front of its hair, then will cut its neck; so this day is the appointed time. Five, according to the narration Ali-ibn-e-ibrahim, the appointed time is the day in which Prophet (PH) will slaughter Satan in the rock in Beyt-ol-moqadas.

part 2

Explanation of the verse:

In Beha’r-ol-anva’r, volume 60, second volume of Al-aya’shi interpretation and also in Dala’yel-ol-ummah it is narrated from Vahab-ibn-e-jami that has said: ((I asked from Imam Sadeq (AS) about Satan and its speech: “رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلي یَوْمِ یُبْعَثُونَ قالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ المُنْظَرِینَ إِلي یَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ المَعْلُوم” (Iblīs said, “My Lord, then grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected.” Allah said, “You are of those who are granted respite, until the Day of the Appointed Time.”) that which day it is? Imam (AS) stated: ((O Vahab! Do you suppose that day is the day which God resurrects people (to set up judgmental day)? No! The honored and glorified God has gave it time until the day which he resurrects our Qaem (AJ) (to revolt) and Qaem (AJ) will take its hair from front of its head and then he will cut its neck; that day is “الْوَقْتِ المَعْلُوم” (the appointed time).

In Beha’r-ol-anva’r, volume 60, it is narrated from Muhamad-ibn-e-younes by intermediating of an unknown person who that said: ((Imam Sadeq (AS) about this word of the exalted God:” رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلي یَوْمِ یُبْعَثُونَ قالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ المُنْظَرِینَ إِلي یَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ المَعْلُوم” (Iblīs said, “My Lord, then grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected.” Allah said, “You are of those who are granted respite, until the Day of the Appointed Time.”) stated: ((the appointed time is the day in which the Prophet of God (PH) cuts the head of Satan on a rock which is in Beyt-ol-moqadas.))

In second volume of Elal-o-shara’ye and Al-borha’n interpretation and also in Noor-o-thaqaleyn interpretation, it is narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) that: ((“یَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ المَعْلُوم” (the appointed time” is the day which the horn will be blow first time, then Satan between the first blowing (with which all creatures will die) and the second blowing (with which all the creatures will again become alive) will die.

In Beha’r-ol-anva’r, volume 52, second volume of Noor-o-thaqaleyn interpretation, Dala’yel-ol-ummah and in selected parts of Al-anva’r-ol-mozia it is narrated from Isha’q-ibn-e-ama’r that: (( I asked Imam Kazem (AS) about the appointed time which God has respited Satan and mentioned it in his book and stated: ((“فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ المُنْظَرِینَ إِلي یَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ المَعْلُوم” (You are of those who are granted respite, until the Day of the Appointed Time.). Imam (AS) stated: ((that appointed time is the day of rising of our Qaem (AJ). When God resurrects him, he is in Kufa mosque and Satan has come; while it is sitting on its knees and says: woe to this day.

On that day, Qaem (AJ) will take its hair from front of its head and then he will cut its neck. That day is the appointed day and time and the end of life of Satan.

In Qesas-ol-anbia’ by Jaza’yeri and Beha’r-ol-anva’r, volume 11, it is narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) that: ((“إِلي یَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ المَعْلُوم” (until the Day of the Appointed Time.) is the day in which the Prophet of God (PH) cuts the head of Satan on a rock which is in Beyt-ol-moqadas.))

Virtues of Imam Mahdi in Surah Hejr

part 3

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ

Sura Hejr, verse 87

Translation:

And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathâni (duals) (seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Sûrat Al-Fâtihah) and the grand Qur’ân. (translated by Taqiy-o-din hela’li and Mohsen kha’n)

Explanation of the verse:

Thaqafi tehra’ni in Rava’n ja’vid interpretation with narrating from Al-aya’shi and Al-qomi interpretation has narrated from Imam Baqer (AS) that: ((we are the Mathâni (duals) which God has bestowed to our Prophet (PH).)) Sheykh sadough has said: ((Imam (AS) means we are the ones who Prophet (PH) has conjoined us with Quran and made will (that his society) adhere to Quran and to us and informed his Ummah (society) that we will not get separated until we will enter to him beside (the Kothar) pool and apparently he wants to state since in famous hadith among (two) sects, Prophet (PH) stated: ((I deposit two  great things among you; the book of God and my Etrat (family).)) Etrat (family), here, is adverted to Quran; so those holy persons are the second after Quran and because of it, they are called Mathâni (duals). Feyz has said: ((being called “the seven” of them, is due to their holy names which are seven; they are: Muhammad (PH), Ali (AS), Fatima (SA), Hasan, Hussain (AS), Jafar (AS) and Mousa’ (AS) and being called Mathâni (duals) of them is due to either praising them, if it is derives from Thana’ (praise), or being two along with Quran, if it is derived from Tathniye (duality), or even it can be counted on their numbers which are 14 pure people along with Prophet (PH). Since 14 is 2 point 7 and including Prophet (PH) of those pure people is because they are a unite light and the changing of persons is at surface.))

In volume 24 of Beha’r-ol-anva’r and Fora’t koufi, Noor-o-thaqaleyn and Al-borha’n interpretations it is narrated from Sama’at-e-ibn-e-mehra’n that: ((I asked Imam Sadeq (AS) about the interpretation of this verse: ((وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ)) (And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathâni and the grand Quran.) He stated: ((swear to God we are the seven of Al-Mathâni (duals) and the Allah’s sake who are among you; anyone recognizes us or does not (however) surely experiences the death.))

Also in second volume of Al-aya’shi interpretation, Qasem-ibn-e-orve who has narrated from Imam Baqer (AS) that: ((the meaning of ((وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ)) (And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathâni and the grand Quran.) are seven Imams (AS) and Qaem (AJ).))

Aya’shi and Majlesi in Al-aya’shi interpretation and Beha’r-ol-anva’r, volume 24, have narrated from Sama’at that: ((Imam Kazem (AS) about the verse ((وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ)) (And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathâni and the grand Quran.) stated: (( (seven of Al-Mathâni) have not bestowed to any Prophet (except Prophet (PH). It means seven Imams (AS) who firmament turn around their pivot. “وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ” (and the grand Quran.) means Prophet Muhammad (PH).)) This narration has been mentioned in Noor-o-thaqaleyn and Al-borha’n interpretations as well.
