The virtues of Imam zaman in the verse Sura Saba and Realizing of relationship between Quran and Mahdism
Verse:
وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ فَزِعُوا فَلَا فَوْتَ وَأُخِذُوا مِنْ مَكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ
Sura Saba, verse 51

Explanation of the verse:
Mohsen Qeraati in volume 7 of Noor interpretation has written that in Shia and Sunni interpretation there are narrations from Prophet Mohammad (PH) in which he has interpreted these verses to overrunning by Sufyani at Mahdi (AJ)’s revolution era that in this time, God will perish them from closest place.
The meaning of ((مکان قریب)) (closest place) is this world and the meaning of ((مکان بعید)) (furthest place) is the other world.
Husseyni shahabd-ol-azimi in Athna ashari interpretation has written that Ibn-e-abbas has told: the revelation of this verse is manifested in اصحاب خسف (conceded people). They are eighty thousand people who will move from شام (Damascus) to destroy Kaba’; when they reach the desert of Mecca, all of them will sink in the earth. He has narrated it from Kashaf interpretation. So the meaning of خسف (concede) is they will be conceded from under the steps. These people are Sufyani’s army who in apocalypse with his command will intend to destroy Kaba’. From these people, two persons will survive: one of them will bring good news to Mecca and the other, while his head is returned back to his neck, will bring the news of conceding of the people to Sufyani.
Scholar Majlesi in volume 52 of Behar-ol-anvar has narrated from Hazife yamani that: I heard from Prophet (PH) that he reported a sedition in apocalypse. Including a sentence in which he stated: ((Sufyani will overrun and will come from dry desert to Damascus and will send part of his army to east and some of them to Medina. When they reach Babylon land (between Medina and Baghdad) they will kill more than 3 thousand people, rend one hundred women’s womb and kill 3 hundred known men of Abbasids. Then they pay attention to Kufa and will destroy its regions. Then they go to Damascus and while these events, the flag of guidance will raise head from Kufa and follow them. After two days way, they will reach them and will kill most of them and take trophy and free the captives. Sufyani will send other part of his army to Medina and they will plunder three days and nights and will go to Mecca. When they reach Bida, God will send Gabriel to perish them. Gabriel will stamp foot on earth and they suddenly will sink in the earth. God stats: ((و لو تری اذ فزعوا…)) (If you could see when they are startled…) two persons who are جهینه (name of a tribe) will survive: one of them is giver of good news and the other is giver of bad news. The giver of good news brings the good news to Mecca and the giver of bad news will scare Sufyani of perishing of his army; so this adage is from this pre-told story: عند الجهینه الخبر الیقین which means جهینه (persons from a tribe named Jahine) has certain news. It is narrated from Imam Baqer (AS) and Imam Sadeq (AS) and Abou hamze thomali has narrated from Imam Sajjad (AS) that stated: ((it is the army of Sufyani who will perish in Bida and will sink from under their steps.))
Seyyed Abd-ol-huseyn atyab-o-tebyan in volume 14 of Atyab-o-tebyan believes that in reports, there are narrations from Imam Baqer (AS) and Imam Sadeq (AS) and there is a narration in Thalabi interpretation from Ibn-e-abbas about Sufyani’s army who will concur Iraq, will kill many people, will concur Medina also, capture their women and then he will send two armies: one of them will be sent to Mecca who will be conceded in Bida and will sink in the earth and the other will be sent to Damascus. The flag of guidance including Believers from Kaba’ will follow them, kill them and will take back the captives who they have captured.
