The Twenty Fourth Sermon of Nahjul Balagha
Summary of the Twenty-Fourth Sermon of Nahjul Balagha:
. the beginning of the sermon and remembering the greatness of Allah: Imam Ali (AS) by mentioning the greatness of God and insisting on Monotheism, reminded people of the point that everything in this world is under the command and will of God. He invited human beings from pride and arrogance to avoid selfishness and paying attention to God.
. characteristics of human beings when encountering problems: Imam Ali (AS) pointed out to treats of human beings when encountering difficulties and introduced two different kinds of them: the ones who lose their faith against problems and the ones who maintain their faith and pious in hardships.
. blaming the ones who give up against problems and insisting on tolerance and persistence: Imam (AS) blamed the ones who withdraw from their faith and give u when encountering difficulties. He stated “one should not show weakness and should continue the way with faith and trust in God.” He insisted that the Muslim person should be tolerant and not to give up his/her religious principles in any condition against problems.
. inviting to goodness and avoiding corruption: Imam Ali (AS) at the final part of the sermon, have invited Muslims to goodness and avoiding the corruption. He stated “any Muslim person should move on the right path and avoid deviation and corruption in any condition.”

In years of Caliphate between the years 37 and 40 A.H.

The publicity of Muslims; to strengthen the spirit of Muslims against challenges and problems of life and encourage (to have) tolerance and persistence.
The purpose of the sermon:
Imam Ali (AS) performed this sermon to strengthen the spirit of Muslims when encountering the problems and hardships. In this sermon, he remembers people that when encountering the problems, they should not withdraw from their faith and fall into weakness and submission. Imam Ali (AS) wanted Muslims to be tolerant and resistant against challenges and to overcome the problems by persistence and faith to God.

. Allah is greater than can be understood; but the greatest thing which human being can understand about him, is his greatness and strength.
. when faith takes root in the heart of a human being, no problem can shake it.
. you should be tolerant and rely on God when encountering the problems and hardships. Nothing will remain stable in this world.
. stability in the way of God, is the best way for passing the problems and challenges.
. the ones who give up in hardships, in fact betrayed themselves.
. goodness and avoiding corruption, are two essential pillars in any Muslim’s life.
