The purpose of the sermon:
The main reason of performing the 13th sermon was to criticize the disarray condition after the departure of Prophet (PH) and warn about the deviations and quarrels in the Islamic society. The primary purposes of this sermon are including:
Blaming the deviation from the way of the Right: blaming the ones who after the departure of Prophet (PH) were strayed from the way of justice and Right; and he warned about the consequences of this deviation. His purpose was to criticize the incorrect behaviors which caused unload of sedition and dispute in the society.
Warning about the seditions and disagreements: Imam Ali (AS), eventually, invited the Islamic society to unity and following the Right and insisted on the significance of unity in the face of seditions and enemies. He believed that, unity and affinity are the only way of preventing the society from falling into the trap of quarrel and corruption.
This sermon was performed to create awareness and consciousness among Muslims and abstaining from dispersion and sedition.
