The summary of the sermon:

. Imam Ali (AS) severely blames tyrants and oppressors.

. insisting on the hard punishment which surely will happen for oppressors.

. Imam (AS) warns the authorities who misuse their power.

.  insisting on the point that, misusing the power and oppression in government has terrible reverberation.

.  insisting on the point that, governors should behave with justice and piety.

. the significance of making justice in Islamic society.

 

The time of performing the sermon:

At the age of Imam Ali (AS)’s caliphate; between the years 35 to 40 A.H.

The purpose of the sermon:

The main reason of performing the seven sermon, is warning the governors and authorities who misused their power and oppressed people. Imam Ali (AS) pointed out to these issues in this sermon:

1.blaming oppressors: Imam Ali (AS) severely blamed tyrants due to injustice and oppression and warned them about the grime aftermath which surely will happen for them in this world and the other world.

 

2.warning the authorities: many of the authorities of that time, had shortage in making justice and used their power for their personal benefits. Imam Ali (AS) by this sermon, makes them aware of the reverberation of such manner.

 

3.encouraging to justice: insisting on the point that, only by observing justice and (having) piety the government and society will abide and the governments should follow these principles.

 

4.remebering the Dooms day: (he) remembered to oppressors that, in addition to this world punishments, a day will come that they will reckon at the obverse of God and no oppression will remain without punishment.

 

The chosen sentences:

.   the tyrants will be perished in this world and will be caught in painful torment in the other world.

.  anyone who misuses his/her power, will be caught in divine punishment.

. the government, without justice, will never remain abide.

. do not you know that a day will come in which all of you will reckon at the obverse of God?
